Edgar H. Sims, Jr.

Mr. Sims joined Branch-Shelton as a principal in 2005. He has been continuously involved in the Georgia banking industry since 1974.  He has founded two banks and participated as a director overseeing their growth and subsequent acquisitions. He has  been a founding investor in a third bank.

Mr. Sims has 35 years of legal experience, most recently as a senior partner in the Corporate Law Department of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, a national firm with offices in Atlanta. During that time, he has represented clients in numerous matters, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and capital raising transactions, as well as on corporate governance issues. He has advised clients in diverse fields including engineering, accounting, commercial banking, investment banking, telecommunications, biotech, insurance, healthcare, distribution and manufacturing.

Mr. Sims is a graduate of Davidson College and Duke University School of Law.

Charles B. Shelton, III

Prior to forming Branch-Shelton in 1998, Mr. Shelton served for 21 years as Managing Director and senior executive of the Corporate Finance Department of The Robinson-Humphrey Company, Inc. where he led numerous mergers, acquisitions and other capital raising transactions and provided extensive financial advisory services to the firm’s clients.

Mr. Shelton spearheaded the rapid expansion of the Corporate Finance Department from a small group of 3 professionals to a major corporate finance investment bank with over 50 professionals that completed more than $10 billion per annum in mergers, acquisitions and capital raising transactions for its clients. As Chairman of both the Commitment Committee and the Merger and Acquisition Fairness Opinion Committee for Robinson-Humphrey, he had oversight responsibility for virtually all corporate finance transactions for many years. 

Prior to joining Robinson-Humphrey, Mr. Shelton was an executive of Aladdin Industries, a large, privately-held, diversified manufacturing company. From 1970 to 1975, Mr. Shelton was a consultant with McKinsey and Company. He earned his MBA with honors from the Wharton School of Finance and graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in Business Administration.

Barrington H. Branch

Mr. Branch has over 35 years experience in the real estate industry, having financed, developed, marketed and managed more than $8 billion of domestic and international real estate projects. Prior to forming Branch-Shelton in 1998, Mr. Branch served as President and CEO of Dutch Institutional Holding Company (DIHC), the U.S. real estate investment affiliate of Pensioenfond PGGM, the second largest pension fund in The Netherlands. DIHC owned a $1.3 billion portfolio of premier Class A office properties in Boston; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta; Chicago; and Charlotte.

Between 1971 and 1991, Mr. Branch served as a senior executive with several leading real estate development companies. Over a 13-year tenure with Portman Properties, he served as the company’s Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. During that time, he was responsible for overseeing the successful financing and development of a number of significant projects and was responsible for the highly successful $880 million recapitalization of all of Mr. Portman’s companies and projects. Since 1999, Mr. Branch has been a Director of Duke Realty Corporation (NYSE: DRE), the largest publicly traded office and industrial REIT in the United States.

Steven T. Brannon
Principal

Mr. Brannon has experience in investment banking, business valuation, commercial banking, and operations as an executive manager.  From 2002 until joining Branch-Shelton in 2006, he was a principal of a privately-held commercial distribution and services company, where revenue more than tripled during his tenure.  From 2000 to 2002, Mr. Brannon worked in the Investment Banking Group at Raymond James & Associates, where his activities included executing public and private capital raises, mergers and acquisitions transactions, and strategic advisory assignments with a focus on telecommunications equipment companies.

Prior to receiving his MBA, Mr. Brannon spent two years in the Business Valuation Group at KPMG Peat Marwick.  He was responsible for providing business enterprise, capital stock, and intangible asset valuations.  He also spent over two years in the Commercial Banking Group at NationsBank.  During that time, he managed a senior debt portfolio of 25 middle market companies with revenue ranging from $5 million to $150 million.

Mr. Brannon holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a BBA from the University of Georgia.

O. Scott Barfield

Mr. Barfield’s experience includes origination and comprehensive execution of middle market transactions in conjunction with Investment Banking coverage and management experience as a Director in Wachovia Securities’ Investment Banking Group. From 1997 until joining Branch-Shelton in 2008, Mr. Barfield held various positions within Wachovia Securities. From 1997 until 2003, he worked within various transaction execution groups, including M&A, debt capital markets, and private equity and mezzanine placement. From 2003 to 2008 he was the Investment Banking origination officer for the Southeast, responsible for Florida, Georgia and Alabama. During this time, he closed eight to 12 transactions per year ranging in size from $30 million to $500 million.

Prior to joining Wachovia, Mr. Barfield was a Manager in Ernst & Young’s National Corporate Finance Group. His responsibilities included strategic planning, corporate finance consulting, and merger and acquisition transaction execution, specifically large-scale consolidation deals. Before that Mr. Barfield spent two years in Ernst and Young’s National Tax Practice Group developing business and tax planning and compliance strategies for corporations and shareholders.

Mr. Barfield holds a MAC in Accounting and a BS in Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina.

Ms. Hughes joined Nancy Creek Capital in the winter of 2011. She is responsible for all aspects of office administration and assists the investment committee with investor communication and portfolio monitoring.

Ms. Hughes graduated from the University of Alabama's Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration Cum Laude with a B.S. in Management and a specialization in Healthcare Management.

Kristen McVitty joined Nancy Creek Capital in the spring of 2012. She provides financial modeling, research, portfolio monitoring and transaction support.

Previously, Ms. McVitty worked in the Corporate & Investment Banking division of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, where she focused on the Media & Communications industry. Ms. McVitty graduated from the University of Virginia, having earned a B.S. in Commerce with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from the McIntire School of Commerce.
